An entirely lens which joins Canon's existing 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 USM in the line-up. It's the smallest and lightest zoom in the 28-105 class, and its optical system includes an Aspherical element. Most noteworthy is its Micro USM II -- half the size of previous Micro USMs, and its use of internal focusing (no front element rotation during focusing.

Canon's 28-105mm f4-5.6 has a nice focal range, but many limitations.

The Bottom Line: Not recommended due to its below average optical quality and build quality. For another $125, try the Canon 28-105mm USM f3.5-4.5 and you'll see and feel an immediate improvement.
