The first in Judy Blume's series of hilarious books about the Hatcher brothers is all about the eldest, Peter. Nine-year-old Peter Hatcher's life is full of problems, most of them caused by his irritating younger brother, Fudge. In fact, Fudge's antics garner so much of his parents' attention that Peter sometimes feels like they don't care about him at all--as if he is a "nothing." "Tales" of Fourth Grader and Brother

The Bottom Line: I think all kids should read this book at some point in their lives.
Review: Read-aloud time in my third grade classroom takes place during the last 10 minutes of the day, after they've switched back from their reading classes, gotten their homework notebooks checked, and packed up everything to go home. I can always judge...

The Bottom Line: Read it yourself before reading it aloud so that you can use expression and pitch of voice when reading it to the kids.

The Bottom Line: Still an enjoyable story after all these years, but better suited for independent reading than as a read a loud book.
Review: It has been a summer for nostalgia; time to share games, books and activities that I enjoyed as a child with my children. So I recently dusted off my copy of Judy Blume's Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing .
