Horrible experience - First and FINAL time eCost Shopper

The only thing consistent with eCost is a horrible experience throughout the ordering process. I purchased a 2GB SD card and it was my first and last order with eCost.

Issue #1 - The order wasn't shipped out until I called them to clear up a credit card snafu. eCost didn't send the item out because the address didn't match up with my credit card....maybe that's because it was a Christmas gift! I got a phone message from eCost immediately after placing the order asking me to call back and verify the address. I called back and got an eCost answering machine asking me to leave a detailed message. I left a DETAILED message and EVEN e-mailed them to confirm the order. The bottom line was that the order wasn't shipped out until I called a 2nd time six days later when I notice that the order hadn't been shipped after visiting their website.


Issue #2 - The rebate was rejected because the order number was not a valid number in their system. I should have know something was suspicious when I could hear another representative in the background responding to the EXACT request that I had. (eCost agent in the background: "the postcard that was sent out to your address is due to an incorrect number on the form"). The representative that I spoke to claimed that I needed to get a correct order number by calling a 2nd number. I did and got transferred again to an additional representative. They gave me a totally different number than the original one off of the website (that I conveniently saved in pdf format in case something like this happened.) After 20 minutes of total phone time, I was told that was the order would be processed in 4-6 weeks. The next thing that happens is that I got another rebate rejection postcard.

I made an unwise decision to shop with eCost based upon price. I hope that this review will help someone else out. If I had factored in the rebate never coming through, I would not have shopped at eCost.
