I placed an order at 713am on 2/1. It said the product was in stock for same day shipment so I paid for Saturday delivery at home. Someone called me at 1pm and tried to sell me some upgrades, but I declined. I asked and he confirmed my order would be shipped that day (the website says just because it says same day that does not guarantee it, which is why I asked).
So I waited for a a tracking number that never came. I called Saturday morning at 8am and was told that they were sorry but someone messed up and my order did not ship yesterday. So he was nice and said because of that he would send it next day for free and I would have it Tuesday. That was cool. I thought. Later today someone called to verify my address and all that stuff and said it would actually ship today and I will have it Monday.
I just happened to check my checking account this evening and they not only charged the purchase plus shipping amount of $1977 on 2/1 but today, instead of crediting me the amount of shipping, they charged me ANOTHER $1919, which is the product with free shipping. I called them and they said this was merely a hold but if I wanted to talk to the credit card people I could. I did and he said to call back Monday because there was nothing they could do until the bank opened. In the meantime, my checking balance has a negative $360 in it!!! And there are items that are going to post Monday night!! If they do and MacMall hasn't reversed the first charge then I will be hit with about $400 in NSF fees!!!!!
Someone else was right. Just pay the tax and whatever and don't try to save a buck. It'll cost you several weeks off your life due to the stress, or several hundred dollars, or both.
UPDATE: I have my product 2 business days after placing the order, with free shipping. It is as described. What bothered me is that I was told 3 times that my order had shipped when in fact it was only the third time (day) that it had. Two business days is great, I'm not impatient. Just don't tell me something is coming because I have to change my plans in order to be somewhere to sign for it. That's stupid. Just be honest. I don't think they did it on purpose, I think it's merely a breakdown in communication. And when I think about it, for the $500 I saved- it was worth it, but it should not have been so dramatic. They need to work on continuity.
