I had placed an order with home depot.com in the beginning of November for an outside hanging lantern. It was received within 2 days which I was really happy with. When I opened the box I discovered that the glass on the lantern was cracked. I called the 800 number immediately to find out what I needed to do to return it. She said that they would have to send UPS out to pick up the item which could take up to ten days for them to contact me for the pickup. I said that ten days is a long time, if I could just drop it off at a designated UPS location. She said that was not an option and that they have to pick it up at the home. Well sure enough it took longer then 10 days for them to come and get it. They picked it up on November 15th. It is now December 12th and my credit card is still not credited. I had called and was given the run around by customer service. They are showing that it is in the warehouse but cannot explain to me why my credit card is not refunded. Along with saying it would be credited by the end of the week which never happened. The wedsite tells says that you will receive credit within 48 hours of them receiving the return. Well obviously their full of it. My husband and I never had a problem inside the store I would expect the same thing from their online service. Here come to find out that Home Depot subcontracts out to another company to handle the customer service calls and there is nothing they can do to force the credit back to you. This is absolutely the worse dealings I ever had with returning an online purchase, I hope noone else has the experience I did but considering their wait time to talk to a supervisor is 20 minutes, I doubt that.
