Received the unit (all 97 lbs) on time, but shipping box severely damaged and additional tape added to all sides and one entire end. Called customer service prior to opening, asking if I should indeed open it. Was instructed to do so, and call if damage had taken place. Wonder of all, due to your incredible packaging, unit was intact and without the slightest imperfection. Love the unit! And would/will definitely order from Home Decorators again.

Product color wasn't very close to what was advertised. It was more Orange Oak than Dark Oak. The product was not square and drawers and doors didn't shut right. Their assembly stuff didn't allow for adjustment. They also changed their price for the product (dropped it 100 dollars) within 8 days of when I bought it. They wouldn't do a price adjustment because it was outside their seven day policy. Even though the girl on the phone said she'd try the "computer" wouldn't let her. Happy with my first purchase of chairs. Good quality and fast. Very disappointed with my second purchase of a buffet.

I ordered an arc lamp with 4 custom shades. The shades did not fit. I was told by a Home Decorator employee that they knew they had this problem. None-the-less they shipped my order. The customer service supervisor was patronizing. As annoyed as I was when I made the call to find a solution I was more angry when I finished. I do not recommend doing business with this company.

I was very hesitant to order after reading the negative reviews, but the item I wanted was not available from anywhere else, so I decided to give it a try. Just to be sure, I emailed customer service to make sure my item was in stock. I received a return email the next day stating that it was in stock and could be shipped within 24 hours of my order being placed and had a 7 day delivery time. I placed the order right away and received a shipping notice the following day. My order (a large piece of furniture, fully assembled) was delivered in 4 business days, packed very well and actually the product was slightly better quality than what I expected. Overall, a very positive experience.

Ordering online was not a problem. All though they should have a better description of their products. I ordered the Shoji Lamp #2707410120 and the quality of wood and craftsmanship was poor. The wood was kind of flimsy and the hardware was not durable. I paid to much for the quality that I received. I'm not sure how many years it will last but, it does add a calm essence to my living room. And it is a great accent to the room. I do agree with "cmconlee". They need to improve their ordering process. But the lamps arrived 4 days later.

It was the worst ever. They read their responses from a sheet. When I called I was told I only had to pay shipping one way but then was not refunded shipping. When I called they said they don't refund shipping charges unless the item was defective. When I said it was the wrong color they told me there is a clearly stated color disclaimer in the catalog. I spent $160 for the privilege of hauling the piece of furniture in and out of the house. I talked to the representative, then the manager and they all just read their script. If you ever really have to order something from them, I recommend getting a magnifying glass and reading the fine print - twice! The same item was at World Market, for less money, but out of stock for 6 weeks. Not waiting cost me a lot of money and aggravation. I work hard for my money and wasting $160 really hurts. It's hard to imagine they can stay in business with these policies. I know I will never buy a thing from them again. Never.

I've had much experience with ordering online and over the phone from the online outlet and online store, returns, merchandise, quality, customer service and it is all just terrible and shameful. They have beautiful catalogs but everything else is just awful. Don't order. And tell your friends not to order.

We ordered our office furniture in June and were told in September that we might get it by the first of the year. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I'm 8 months pregnant and sitting on the floor to use the computer. But of course, that is not their fault because they have no handle on their dealers. If I can create a person in the time that it takes them to make 3 piece of furniture something is seriously wrong!

My second purchase from Homedecoratorsoutlet.com arrived today. This is a fairly large piece of furniture. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. It was fully assembled, unlike the desk I ordered several months back. The color is exactly as I expected. My experience with this company has been entirely positive, and I have plenty of horror stories to compare with. My only slightly negative comment would be this: While both pieces that I ordered from the HD outlet site have been well worth the discounted price, neither would be worth the "original" price from the HD catalog or web site. And it seems to me that as long as you are ordering from the outlet, you aren't likely to encounter a "backorder" situation.

I had a new house built and purchased all my bathroom vanities from Home Decorators. I had initially faxed my order to them. They claimed they never received it so I called it in. It took about 3 months to get the vanities and then they shipped one the wrong size. It took about a month to get a replacement. They did knock some off the price since they screwed up. The customer service man was nice and accommodating.

Wow! Great price on area outdoor rugs...Almost to good to be true. Well it was. Called for a status and the order has been cancelled even after the money was taken out of my account. I think the price was a typo and they wont honor it. Customer service was no help and offered no other alternative.

I've had a terrible experience as well. I ordered a cabinet that was missing parts. Unfortunately, I did not check the package before hiring someone to travel to my remote location via ferry to assemble the cabinet. The missing part was needed at Step 1. So, I am now out $200 for travel/assembly costs, do not have the part and will have to pay another $200 for the handyman to return and assemble once I receive the part. (Estimated at 2 weeks). I will be out $400 for assembly of a $200 item. No one at the company could tell me the size of the missing part so that I could purchase it myself. And no one at the company cared one hoot for the time, expense and aggravation that I experienced as a customer. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service.

This may be the worst company I have dealt with. They sent me a defective product but could not replace the defective part...unavailable. They would only refund my money if I disassembled the now useless piece of furniture (which took four hours to assemble) and return it to them. Thus, inconveniencing me twice. HORRIBLE! And to boot....The item is really garbage. They made me appreciate IKEA. It was really that bad.

I have always been quite pleased with my Home Decorators Outlet purchases in the past. Shipping is always very quick and items arrive in good shape. Most items have arrive at my door within two days! I do a lot of online shopping and find their site easy to navigate. People always comment on the unique furniture that I have purchased at Home Decorators Outlet. When I tell them how little I spent for the items they can't believe it! I have found their telephone customer service to me friendly and helpful but they do not answer their emails. Recently though, they have been adding a lot of surcharges that make me hesitate before buying. I am still trying to find out how you get the 20% off $175 that the website advertises. I always look forward to their newest catalog with a $10 discount code.

I could kick myself because I ignored all the negative reviews and purchased from this company. When I finally received the chair I ordered, it was small and unspeakably uncomfortable. I don't know about you but I don't have $300.00 to throw away on a chair I can't sit in, so I tried to return it within the 10 day return period. Surprise surprise I was told it was custom made (even though I assembled the chair), and couldn't be returned. I reviewed my original order sheet and no where NO WHERE does it say that it was custom made or non-returnable. I complained to Home Decorator's that this was a failure to disclose on their part, at which time they told me a supervisor would call me back in 48 hours or less. Long story short, the supervisor never called. Do yourself a favor..do not do business with this company.

I made an order to Home Decorators in December for a TV stand. The order was postponed 2 or 3 times and I finally received the package today (April 2) The wait was pretty ridiculous...well over 3 months when we expected it in just a few weeks (which at the time I thought was a long time) I put the stand together today and it took about 2 hours and looks beautiful. We didn't find a stand like this one anywhere else which is why we waited so long. The wait was worth it.

Oh my Goodness! This product is a piece of crap. I would send it back if it were not for the fact it would cost me money to ship it back plus a restocking fee. Oh, shipping was a breeze, but crap flows quickly down stream. The wood has drill holes in multiple places giving you the option to assemble it the wrong way. The main support is a tack board with 1/2 inch nails. 50 1/2 inch nails by the way. Without the tack board this cabinet would fall apart. Given the construction, this $420.00 multimedia cabinet will last 1 year tops. I felt like the misery of putting this thing together would never end. How is this company still in business? Also, the wood is crooked and has gaps at most junctions. Don't even get me started on the hinges. Holding the doors is 6 small screws on each side (They will fall apart in 6 months). Overall, this product stinks!!!! Do not buy from this company!!!

All questions were answered even my dumb ones. My order came very quickly (it came a day earlier then the expected delivery date) and in perfect condition and it was beautiful. I purchased a small linen cabinet from this company and it was a piece of garbage that cost me $350! The item is not solid, a piece came broken, it was missing hardware. It weighed over 100 lbs, otherwise I would have shipped it back. I wrote a long letter to Home Decorators Collection home office expressing my extreme dissatisfaction, telling that the package was not even complete with all the needed parts. I addressed it to the owner of the company and NEVER HEARD A WORD! If an owner does not have enough pride in a company to even take a moment to address an customer who felt completely ripped off then I think that company should be ashamed of itself!!

First told me "we didn't get them", then when I provided the UPS tracking #'s, the person who handles refund is "not available". This used to be a great place to shop. Great products at very good prices and this still holds true, BUT, since Home Depot took over, their track record has gone from bad to worse. They have shipped me wrong items, then refuse return because the item I wanted to return was not the item I paid for. Item shipping time is abysmal, if you get it. Credit approval takes forever, which delays shipping time.
Their customer service people are very nice but are not given the the tools to solve or do anything. The only way I ended up getting credit was by disputing the charges through American Express. |
