As all of the Gap online stores, the main front page is set up into sections. They show you a sale, a promotion, a holiday coming up or some other inane option and then have 3 others that all battle for your attention. It's crazy and annoying to a regular customer.
The top of the page has the sections like Men, women, maternity, kids, baby, and body. So you can easily get to whatever section you want to shop in.
The colors on those section pages are calmer with cool blue and grey colors and are inviting and not busy. Easy to look at. The cart on the right is nice and easy to access.
underneath each section of men (why men is first boggles my mind), women, maternity, etc. and to the left is the sub-sections for top picks, what's new, pants, shirts, etc...I hate that it's on the left, but it's easy to read and to click on what you need. It's nice that the women's section offers petite and tall in one click...nice for shorties like me!
The clothing items are photographed alone and on a white background which makes you focus on the product and I enjoy the eye-pleasing design. You just have to click on the item and you are sent to main page for the item to see if they have the size and color that you need. The selection online is hit and miss. One day it's available, the next day or even hours, it's gone...I wish they had more in stock to send out (especially in petite and short sizes)
The prices are okay--sale and clearances are nice but you have to catch them ASAP or you won't get your size or color; but sometimes the new products are way too overpriced for what you get. The quality of the clothing is nice, though.
Sizing of items you get sent to you are frustrating. a pair of pants in size 12 are not the same as the same exact pair in size 12...it's so frustrating that I've stopped buying pants online...and they don't offer my size in the store in ankle...ARGH!
SOmtimes it can take up to 20 minutes to get logged in--no kidding. The system takes its time and I have many times just clicked off and left the site and my bag...they've lost hundreds of dollars in sales because of this--and I'm sure I'm not the only upset customer!
The processing and shipping is slow. Shipping is expensive if you don't have a code or are a gap card user. can return to the store, but it's a slow process and if you have a lot to return it takes too long and the clerks get testy. for all the hassle, it's not usually worth it unless it's a killer item you must have! Or if you are a mom like me who can't get to the store and shop...
