Terrible customer service and quality of band! I bought my fiancee an engagement ring from Blue Nile two months ago. It wasn't an inexpensive ring and I got the setting and band in platinum for durability. The ring is beautiful and we received several

They kept sending me emails telling me that my credit card company had declined the charge, but when I contacted my credit card company they informed me that they had not. They told me that Blue Nile had made a $1 charge to see if it would go through. It did, but Blue Nile never submitted the entire amount.

I thought that the website was excellent - it made it easy to see exactly what the product details were, which is often hard to do when shopping for jewelry. I also thought that the price was reasonable. When I received the bracelet, it was packaged in a nice gift box, which made the presentation of it very positive.

Ordering was easy and delivery was only one day later than the projected arrival date of the merchandise. I exchanged my original selection for another item and was assisted in this process by a customer service representative who was very helpful. Overall this was a very satisfactory shopping experience.

I wasn't happy that the ring I purchased wasn't what I had expected. The photos on their site don't show an adequate view of the items. They should show an actual size view. The ring purchased was an my anniversary gift and on the web site it looked very similar to my wedding band. Instead it is a much smaller band and tiny sapphires. The setting itself cost more than the wedding band that I have that has larger sapphires and diamonds.

A great place for diamonds and jewelry

I purchased my wife's diamond engagement ring from Blue Nile last year and it still looks great. The Asscher in the yellow gold trellis is fantastic. We also purchased our wedding bands and many gifts for our mothers and her friends. The products have always arrived in great shape and on time. Blue Nile is the easy choice for buying jewelry online.

Shopping and prices were great but BEWARE OF QUALITY!!!!!!

I received a beautiful engagement ring from Blue Nile. I loved it and was happy with the service and delivery. The ring looked great (although band appeared smaller than it did online). I Thought I Loved it until the diamond LITERALLY FELL OFF my ring setting after a year and a half. I am lucky that it happened when I noticed and that I didn't loose the diamond. Not only was Blue Nile unhelpful, they actually claimed I must have caused the ring trauma, that diamonds do not just "fall off rings"!!!! Funny that's what I thought too....I would NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN!!

Engagement and Wedding Band Cause Blisters and Rash
by massres, July 9, 2006
|
|||||||
|
My husband purchased my engagement and wedding ring through Blue Nile, both platinum pave' diamond settings. They are beautiful rings. However, as in other reviews, within 9 months of wearing each, both rings now consistently give me blisters and a red rash. I do not know if it is the specific setting, the metal, etc. but it is extremely disappointing and frustrating. I would highly warn couples of making this financial and emotional investment through Blue Nile, as there does not seem to be an opportunity for recourse through their website or customer service.

Gorgeous Diamond!

I referred my (now) fiance to Blue Nile when he was shopping around for my engagement ring.
He was so pleased with the website and the prices that he ended up purchasing my ring there. The ring (1.00 carat round, G color, VS2 clarity, Excellent Cut) is absolutely GORGEOUS! He was extremely pleased with the service he received, the ring arrived exactly when the Blue Nile website said it would, and if we have future fine jewelry purchased required, we will DEFINITELY use Blue Nile again. He checked with several local jewelry stores and none could even come close to the quality and the price. The diamond is so brilliant it looks a LOT bigger than 1.00 carat! |

10 months later she now suffers
by lilsuz88, April 7, 2006

My wife has two bands purchased from Blue Nile to go around a ring not purchased at Blue Nile. After 9 months her finger started to break out with blisters. The ring not purchased at Blue Nile doesn't have any skin irritation lines but the two outside bands (purchased from Blue Nile) do show blistering. We bought White Gold. I called Blue Nile and they would not work with me on it other than telling me they would sell two platinum bands at cost. This doesn't help me. I just hope the diamond earrings I bought at Christmas don't cause her similar problems. If they do, I will be back.

C+ stones for exorbitant prices
by tunasierra, April 6, 2006
|
|||||||
|
I was shocked. I thought that Blue Nile would have the cheapest stones, and that with a little research, I'd be able to find a brilliant diamond for a steal. Not so.
I bought a diamond on Blue Nile after thorough research. I opted to focus on brilliance, choosing a diamond with a perfect cut, polish, symmetry, and precise table and depth measurements. I was appalled when I brought it to my jeweler to have it mounted. After some discussion, he asked me what I paid for the stone. I undercut the actual price by $1,000. The jeweler then pulled out a beautiful stone -- same size, better color, perfect cut, and same clarity -- and said, "This is what you would get in here for that price." Bottom line -- go talk to your jeweler and be honest with him or her. Blue Nile is good for people who don't live near any jewelery stores, not for the average person looking to save a few bucks. |

Friendly Internet site bad Service

My experience has been nothing short of horrible! First the package was late so I emailed bluenile for a tracking number which they would not give me (for security reasons). To make matters worse I had a flight the next day to surprise my girlfriend and give her the ring. Unfortunately the ring never came before my flight and it messed up my plans. When I got back and was dealing with the fact my plans were screwed up I got an email saying I could pick up the package. So I decided I would do just what FedEx wouldnt do and drive down and pick up the package myself. The woman at bluenile said they would be holding it for me. When I made it to the FedEx office (45 minutes away) the guy said I would need a tracking number to find the package, but since bluenile doesnt give out tracking numbers there was no way for me to get the package. To be honest Im so mad that Im just going to return the ring and go to Costco or something.

Ordering is not a problem for Bluenile.com. Its a few clicks away, and bam, in 5-7 business days I recieved my $275 platinum bracelet for my fiance.
This is when the problems began 1. The platinum bracelet was very thin, the pictures made it look large, as if my $275 went somewhere 2. After 1 month of wearing it, the PLATINUM bracelet somehow managed to loosen/break and fell off her hand without realizing it. Lord knows where it is now! |

Back in July, 2005 I purchased an Engagement Ring from Blue Nile and was and still am very happy that I did. The process was very easy, they have all the information you need to research. Their selection of diamonds is unmatched. They have every diamond you can imagine and hope for. I compared their prices with Mervis Diamonds - Littman - Bailey Banks and others, and Blue Nile's prices were better by about $1,000, no lie. The ring came on time. She loves it. I highly recommend this site. If you are someone who likes to shop on your own and not have the pressure of a salesman trying to make a buck, then Blue Nile is for you. Finally, I realized how great Blue Nile was when my fiance took the ring to get it resized (my error), the jeweler appraised about $3,000 more than I paid. No lie.

Don't buy big purchases here!

I ordered a $14,000 engagement ring from Blue Nile. When it arrived there was some type of dirt on the setting under the diamond which was CLEARLY visible through the stone. This should not have happened for the price I paid. Moreover, when I called customer service they told me to use a tooth brush to try to clean it off. Again, not the type of experience I expected after purchasing a rather expensive piece of jewelry from them. What's more, the color of the side stones in the setting did not match each other very well. All told I was very disappointed and I think the ring will be going back.
