The Battle of Gettysburg (July 1 – July 3 1863) fought in and around the town of Gettysburg Pennsylvania as part of the Gettysburg Campaign was the battle with the largest number of casualties in the American Civil War and is frequently cited as the war’s turning point. Union Maj. Gen. George Gordon Meade’s Army of the Potomac defeated attacks by Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia ending Lee’s invasion of the North. Following his success at Chancellorsville in May 1863 Lee led his army through the Shenandoah Valley for his second invasion of the North hoping to reach as far as Harrisburg Pennsylvania or even Philadelphia and to influence Northern politicians to give up their prosecution of the war. The two armies collided at Gettysburg on July 1 1863 as Lee urgently concentrated his forces there. Low ridges to the northwest of the town were defended initially by a Union cavalry division which was soon reinforced with two corps of Union infantry. However two large Confederate corps assaulted them from the northwest and north collapsing the hastily developed Union lines sending the defenders retreating through the streets of town to the hills just to the south. On the second day of battle most of both armies had assembled. The Union line was laid out in a defensive formation resembling a fishhook. Lee launched a heavy assault on the Union left flank and fierce fighting raged at Little Round Top the Wheatfield Devil’s Den and the Peach Orchard. On the Union right demonstrations escalated into full-scale assaults on Culp’s Hill and Cemetery Hill. Across the battlefield despite significant losses the Union defenders held their lines. On the third day of battle July 3 fighting resumed on Culp’s Hill and cavalry battles raged to the east and south but the main event was a dramatic infantry assault by 12 500 Confederates against the center of the Union line on Cemetery Ridge. Pickett’s Charge was repulsed by Union rifle and artillery fire at great losses to the Confederate army. Lee led his army on a torturous retreat back to Virginia. Between 46 000 and 51 000 Americans were casualties in the three-day battle. That November President Lincoln used the dedication ceremony for the Gettysburg National Cemetery to honor the dead both Union and Confederate and redefine the purpose of the war in his historic Gettysburg Address. The framed map of the Battle of Gettysburg contains an authentic excavated American Civil War 58 Caliber 3 ring Bullet with certificate of authenticity.

Dominic Miller, guitarist with Sting’s band for eighteen years, was so impressed when he saw Neil Stacey playing at a gig that he knew immediately he would like to work with him. Their first live performance together was at Bath Guitar Festival where they realized that their individual talents combined to make a formidable musical force. This year, Dominic has taken a sabbatical from playing in Sting’s band, which he plans to dedicate to playing memorable performances with Neil, and the release of their album, New Dawn. New Dawn is a seamless tapestry of superb guitar skills by Neil and Dominic, who have written all twelve tracks featuring original music for two guitars. Two of the tracks have been co-written with Sting. Neil and Dominic are from similar musical backgrounds having both been encouraged to play from an early age. Dominic became one of the most sort after session musicians in the world, playing with many famous musicians including Paul Young, Pavarotti, Phil Collins and Sheryl Crow to name a few. Neil formed his own band, The Kimbara Brothers. Martin Taylor described then as being “highly inventive, full of energy and beauty” One of several albums by Neil’s band, was described as “a feast for guitar freaks” by Akustik Gitarre Magazine. This music is by a duo not to be missed. Neil and Dominic are playing live dates at Pizza Express in July. It was originally to have been two dates, but such has been the demand for tickets to see them, that an additional three dates have been booked including two on a Saturday night! Track Listing 1. The Second Battle of Bull Run or the Battle of Second Manassas was waged between August 28 and August 30 1862 as part of the American Civil War. It was the culmination of an offensive campaign waged by Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia against Union Major General John Pope’s Army of Virginia and a battle of much larger scale and numbers than the First Battle of Bull Run. The result of the battle was an overwhelming Confederate victory but the Union army was left largely intact in comparison to Irvin McDowell’s army after the First Battle of Bull Run/Manassas. This framed map of the Second Battle of Bull Run contains an authentic excavated American Civil War 58 Caliber 2 ring Bullet with certificate of authenticity.

The plates depict the activities both during and immediately following the War (1861-1865). The process of taking photographs during the War was complex and time-consuming. Robert Edward Lee (January 19 1807 – October 12 1870) was a career U.S. Army officer and the most celebrated general of the Confederate forces during the American Civil War. Lee's greatest victories were the Seven Days Battles the Second Battle of Bull Run the Battle of Fredericksburg and the Battle of Chancellorsville but both of his campaigns to invade the North ended in failure. Barely escaping defeat at the Battle of Antietam in 1862 Lee was forced to return to Virginia. In early July 1863 Lee was decisively defeated at the Battle of Gettysburg in Pennsylvania. However due to ineffectual pursuit by the commander of Union forces Maj. Gen. George Meade Lee escaped again to Virginia. Lee's victories against superior forces won him enduring fame as a crafty and daring battlefield tactician but his strategic decisions such as invading the North in 1862 and 1863 and overlooking the Mississippi Valley have generally been criticized by military historians. In the final months of the Civil War as manpower reserves drained away Lee adopted a plan to arm slaves to fight on behalf of the Confederacy but this came too late to change the outcome of the war. After Appomattox Lee discouraged Southern dissenters from starting a guerrilla campaign to continue the war and encouraged reconciliation between the North and South. This framed photograph of General Lee contains an authentic Civil War relic bullet with certificate of authenticity.

This is a museum-quality, reproduction print on premium, acid-free, semi gloss paper with archival/UV resistant inks.Original, c. 1864.Topics: US History 1861-1865 Military facilities. Forts & fortifications. Atlanta Campaign 1864 Sherman William T. US Georgia Atlanta.HISTORY OF THE CIVIL WAR PHOTOSA majority of the Civil War photos come from the original glass plate negatives in the holdings at the Library of Congress. The plates depict the activities both during and immediately following the War (1861-1865). The process of taking photographs during the War was complex and time-consuming. Photographers mixed their own chemicals and prepared their own wet plate glass negatives. The negatives had to be prepared, exposed, and developed within minutes, before the emulsion dried. This was a difficult process to master in a studio setting and even more difficult to work outdoors. Photographers transported their supplies in a wagon, improvised a darkroom, and learned to use their chemicals in both the blistering heat and bitter cold. In the 1880s dry plate negatives were introduced. These glass negatives were commercially available and did not need to be developed immediately after the exposure. (Source: Library of Congress)
