R Wines is a new joint venture between winemaking rock star Chris Ringland and Dan Phillips of the Australian importer Grateful Palate. This is a wine that has created quite a bit of buzz. This is Red Lion Cabernet 2006, California. The label on this wine alone is enough to get your attention. Alan Aldridge is the artist that designed the label for Red Lion and you will definitely recognize his work from the House of Blues Logo as well As The Green Lion Napa Wine Series. 87% Chardonnay, 13% Pinot Blanc 2% of blend barrel fermented and matured for 10 months in French Oak the wine was sourced from Napa Valley, Monterey, Lodi and the Santa Barbara Counties.

Tasting Notes - The delicate bouquet of the 2007 Estate Chardonnay expresses light aromas of green apples, toasted walnuts, and orange blossoms with subtle hints of vanilla. On the palate, there are distinctive fruit flavors of lemons and pineapple coupled with a bright minerality. The texture is soft and rich and the flavors are very concentrated.
