This is the first harvest from Gina's vineyard which was carefully planted by family and friends in 1999 and has been meticulously trained to produce the ultimate quality. The grapes were hand harvested at full maturity and barrel aged in American and French oak for 18 months. The result is a ripe, complex and elegant wine that represents the expression of its terroir and vintage.

The vineyards, are located in a unique micro climate at the base of the Cuesta Grade, which have the coastal influence of the Edna Valley, yet higher mid day temperatures like the Paso Robles area. This is the first vintage from Gina’s vineyard which is Alban Clones trained to a Smart-Dyson trellis, allowing for plenty of light and airflow on the fruit during the growing season. The grapes were hand harvested at full maturity in October of 2001, at 25.5 Brix, and a pH of 3.3. The Syrah was then cold soaked for three days which added to the extraction of the inky purple color and a tremendous overall structure. The wine was barrel aged in French and American oak barrels for 18 months adding to the structure. This is a very elegant and complex wine with hints of blueberry, lavender, violet and white pepper in the finish. This wine can be cellared for many years. Only 450 cases produced.
